The English Department is hosting the annual Creative Writing Contest again this spring. Winners receive a cash prize and the option to read their work at an awards ceremony hosted by The Pallete & The Page on April 7, 2018. Eligibility requires participants to be currently enrolled at Cecil College. For the contest, students may submit a short story, poetry, or non-fiction essay. Students cannot submit more than 3 poems, 1 short story, and 1 nonfiction essay. Poetry is single-spaced, stories and essays are double-spaced and all files should be saved as .doc, .docx, or .pdf. All works are due by March 14, 2018. To submit pieces of writing attach them in an email to cecilcollege3cwp@gmail.com. Included in the body of the email should be a cover letter providing the judges with name, contact information, genre, and of course the titles of each submitted work. Preferably, students would send one email with all their submissions but if they decide at a later date to add to their submission they may do so—as long as they do not exceed the aforementioned limitations. More information can be found in the Writing Center.
