“I’d Freeze Too”

The dark forest’s empty echo sounded in my ears

to a crossroad I came; black tar pitched

along once soft ground–

No grass here-

But across!

Across I knew of the sweet grass,

I knew of the gentle stream,

I knew of the joy and goodness.

I leapt.

Loud and blaring, I heard God’s call to me

Two great suns beamed, I saw God’s image

‘Tis the rapture, the great coming.

So I stared

Awe and reverence

Overwhelming my hooves

I stopped

Waiting for my God to

take me home.
